PostGreSQL installation problem

I successfully installed PG v 12, 64bit on 2 workstations with Windows 10, but cannot get a good install on Windows Server 2016. It keeps failing when it says it can't find libpq.dll and libintl-9.dll even though they are in the BIN folder along with all the other DLLs. We added the path to the syst...

Re: dbfUpsizing questions

I recommend to build the indexes after upsizing (INDEX ON/OrdCreate()) This made a huge difference in upload speed. The file that was taking hours to upload finished in a few minutes. The processor was evenly split between the DBFUPSIZE program and PostGreSQL service. It was still about 60%. The fi...

Re: dbfUpsizing questions

I recommend to build the indexes after upsizing (INDEX ON/OrdCreate()). I had never thought of that. It failed after 12 hours when it got to a database that had some kind of error. There should have been an option to continue the process and just flag the bad database. Instead, I now have to kill t...

Re: Who is using PostGreSQL?

so what you think about a *.CH to "translate" xBase Command to OOP-Syntax I do that in lots of places now. I used to create and manipulate objects with *.CH commands before the DataObject() class was offered to us. However, I refuse to overload or replace Xbase++ syntax in any way at all because th...

dbfUpsizing questions

I have installed PostGreSQL 12 server on my Dell OptiPlex 980 with Windows 10 64-bit installed. I bought this inexpensive, refurbished computer just to run as a web server. It is running several websites, including this phpBB forum and works fast with no delays. Now I am experimenting with upsizing ...

Re: DCPRINT TO Microsoft Print to PDF DOES NOT WORK FOR ME AT 64 BIT

I just ran my \exp20\samples\printer\print2pdf.prg program on my Win 10 64 laptop.

It produces a perfectly fine .PDF file.

Re: Who is using PostGreSQL?

it seems that Jimmy doesn't like it. It's his right, he likes complex things.
Aha! Now I understand why he doesn't use eXpress++.

Re: Who is using PostGreSQL?

SET SOAPBOX ON Success in software development depends, IMHO, on having a clear, long-term vision for a better programming universe. It's not about making a lot of money. In the early days of Xbase++, many 3rd party developers didn't take the time to get to know Steffen Pirsig and they didn't unders...

Re: Who is using PostGreSQL?

"never change a running System" ... That is something we can probably agree on. Converting Medallion from ADS to PostGreSQL (either ISAM or SQL) would not be advised, in my opinion. However, there are people in the world who just like to spend money and time on boondoggles so they can convince thei...
