I feel like I need to pack up and move back to Minnesota just to join the resistance.
I grew up in Roseville and was educated in Roseville. I was always proud of being from Minnesota because, after joining the Navy, I realized how fortunate I was to be given an education free from racism.
"Minnesota nice" was a real thing.
I live in Boise, Idaho now, which is the most liberal city in Idaho. It is nice and peaceful here, but I suppose if I live long enough that will come to an end.
I was born in 1943 and served 3 tours in Vietnam. When I joined the Navy in 1961, nobody had ever heard of Vietnam.
Franklin D. Roosevelt, like Martin Luther King, had a dream too. He passed on his desires to create the organizations of the UN and NATO, which was carried out by Harry Truman. FDR said that it was his hope that anyone who is alive during the war will live out their entire lives never having to witness another world war. That came true for many of us.
Let us hope that we can stop this madness for the sake of our children and grandchildren.
