Windows 7 / oplocks / SMB 2 / 64 bit

#1 Post by bwolfsohn »

Alaska has an oplocks document for NT/ w2k and XP.

Are there newer settings that we need to deal with under Vista/ Windows 7 / 64 bit OS ??

I've seen some messages about problems w/ SMB 2.0 & 2.1 and i've seen some messages referring to leases for caching..

Has anyone come across these issues yet ??

Hi,

i am not sure with it. Steffen Pirsig has an information from MS, that the patterns whitch lead to the problem with OPLOCKs are not in SMB2, but i am not sure, because i have a problem with one customer which use Win7_64 and a Win2008-Server (and here should SMB2 be active). 2 Weeks ago, I have switched off SMB2 at the server, which can be done with

Code: Select all

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters]
"SMB2"=dword:00000000
and it seems to be better. But i will wait for some days more...

This customer had problems with defect CDX-Files.
