Spam Spam and more Spam

#1 Post by bwolfsohn »

Roger,
Looks like you need to step up the registration process with some spam stuff... Perhaps moderate the first posting or two or something like that..

Yes, I need to try to figure out how to stop this.

I have been trying to delete them as fast as they come in.
The eXpress train is coming - and it has more cars.

The board may have an option for moderation.. Just require moderation for the first message, and they won't be able to post.. That's the short term solution.. longer term is to see if the board has an option for email confirmation of a registration..

Unfortunately, there appears to be no option for that. Still looking.

Roger,

there's got to be an option for administrative approval for new registrations or moderation.. if not built in, then a plug in..

Here's 3 plugins to consider the middle one looks like the strongest:

http://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/p ... uirements/

http://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/a ... tion_pack/
# Double Activation:
A new option for ACCOUNT ACTIVATION (User+Admin) to the board. Newly registered users first have to confirm their email address and then administrators have to activate the account.

http://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/d ... e_x_posts/
Gives the option to disallow users to post url's before they have posted x number of posts.
The number of posts required to post links is configurable in ACP > General > Post settings.

I agree. I have been looking at different plugins and will probably use one or more of them.
