USING VOIP on a T1 Line

#1 Post by John Hohensee »

I have a custom using a T1 line for both the internet access an his telephone system about 10 phone numbers.
If my memory serves me right I seem to remember that each phone line took 64K of the band with that means that they area using 640K of the T1 line just for phone service. Then someone told me that VOIP took priority over all other services on the line. When he uses new very fast machines to log into a Citrix account they will timeout during the download of the menu. Older and slightly slower machines do not have the same problem. Any ideas that can be tried would be appreciated.

PS: A response in D-LINK tech support stated that the NEW routers that have both auto detect for speed and auto detect for the line coming in are dropping the incoming line periodically reducing the speed of the line and all connection from a switch to another router should use a cross over cable rather then using the autodetect of the incoming wire.
