Printer Error

#1 Post by omni »

Roger,

Weird stuff.

A user that has been on our system for years has one work station (not new) that last week started getting an error message when clicking to select a printer in prchoice to open the windows printers.

"An Error occurred during this operation"

Not ours and cannot find anything that would give this message, or why?

She says that she reinstalled all of her printers and drivers (under our suggestion) but still the same thing.

Any ideas? She can use the preview in acrobat and prints fine from there.

Hi,

Did you check if there is a default printer? We had strange problems in the past when there was no default printer available for whatever reason.
Best regards,

Chris.

Hi,
With reference to "for whatever reason" I have found that in recent Windows releases there is an option to "Let windows manage my default printer".. (Settings --> Printer and Scanners) near the bottom of the screen. Having this checked caused numerous problems with my print operations.

Regards... Jonathan

What problems?

What version of Xbase++ are you using?

Hi Roger,

I'm using XBase 2.0.1159 however the problems are not related to your libraries. One problem was when my application is creating a PDF document using Edgar Borger's XbpPDF library and trying to determine paper size. There were other issues as well but as I stated none related to your libraries and all went away when I disabled windows managing the default printer.

Thanks... Jonathan
