Speed using ADS

Just want an opinion.

Got a client, 100+ users, large files, some a million or more records.
Data server.
Terminal server with 8 cpu's .
Ads

Complains of sluggishness at times during the days.

Says its when opening some main menu items, that open 50-60 data files.

Normal open time is 1 second or less. Sometimes he says its 6 seconds or more to open the menu option and users are complaining

Suggested to him to look at ADS and its usage at that moment.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

You don't get much of a performance improvement if the application server and the data server are both the same hardware.

Is ADS server installed on a different computer or is this Vmware?

Why do you open 50-60 files when at the main menu?

Is this a SDI app or an MDI app?

Guess it was not explained right. The 50-60 files is when they open a menu option. The one they use the most. Nothing stays open on the main menu. We have 100-150 menu items..you may remember how large our app was when you helped me last time.
The terminal server has all the dll files needed and our exe. The data server has only the data files, (dbf, cdx), in one folder.
So the main application is opened on the terminal server and does use all the cpu's.

ADS is loaded on the data server. These servers are hardware servers, real ones.
