Late Monday, April 10th, Roger then presented me with a proposal, as I have quoted below:
So I am attempting to fire up a bunch of people and garner support, from the community, to have a conference in Boise, Idaho, similar to the conference we had May 1,2,3 2015. Our company, Aqua Finance Inc, would be providing 3 of our staff members as attendees so we would be 30% of the way to the minimum.I’ll make you a deal. If you can fire up a bunch of people on the forum, I’ll put together something in September. Need at least 10 people.
I think the location for the last conference, at the Springhill Suites, in close proximity to Roger's location, would be desirable again as it makes it easier for Roger. Roger did not discuss any costs, so I don't know how much they would change from the last conference, which was very reasonable. Travel would be the biggest cost for most people. The last conference was a Friday through Sunday event and I think that would again work well. That would make proposed potential dates after Labor day of September 8, 9 and 10(the next weekend) and September 15, 16 and 17.
Based on the topic list I extracted from the proposed May conference, I think it would include many or all of the these topics. I think all of them are very useful to our on-going Xbase++/Express++ development.
* Working with XML
* Xbase++ 2.0 Internet Technologies
* Sub-classing with eXpress++.
* Creating and deploying a KIOSK (touch screen) application.
* Using Xbase++ 2.0 data objects and record objects with eXpress++.
* Creating animations in XML.
* Writing a SOAP server and SOAP client in Xbase++ 2.0 (without Xb2Net).
* Using <CXP/> with your Web applications.
* How to use the owner-draw feature of eXpress++ with DCBROWSE.
* How to design screens that use dynamic scaling and resizing.
* How to use the new DESIGN mode of eXpress++.
* How eXpress++ was used to convert a Visual Foxpro application.
* eXpress++ and Advantage Server (including SQL).
* eXpress++ debugging.
Please respond on the forum to this posting in order to determine if we have sufficient support for a Developer's conference in Boise this year during the 2nd or 3rd weekend. I think it would be a great event and valuable learning experience for Express++/XBase++ users in many different topic areas.
