Advantage

#1 Post by omni »

Hey Roger.

Have a client that wants to use ADS, so thought I would put in on my work station to remember all the options.

Reinstalled version 12, no issue, started the configuration utility and it is running on my pc.

Tried to connect and it gives same 5381 error every time.

If I open xdot and select to connect adsdbe xdot just closed with an xppfatal.log

I do have their dll files in my working folder, which I know is necessary. Plus the adsdbe.dll, adsutil.dll

Did I miss a step?

Using the same dbesys.prg that a working client is utilizing, just changed the one line

cAdsServer := '\\SHVDV-Data01:6262\Apps\Omni\oiswin' to

cAdsServer := '\oiswin'' (I have tried a lot of different variations on this)

And changed the default directory.

Does not seem to matter, since xdot also does not connect.

Thoughts?

Make sure that you are using the latest ADS client DLLS:
ace32.dll
axcws32.dll
adsloc32.dll

Also, make sure that they are in the same folder as adsdbe.dll.

yes, they are. also loaded on my server to connect and reinstalled using 32 instead of 64, as my server is 32bit. Still get the same message. Have the server running in both places.
Yes, its driving my batty. Still showed good connections and work files when I first opened it from the last time I used it, which was 3 years ago.

Do not have an adsloc.dll, and not in the installation on version 12. Not in my clients folder so apparently not needed.

Yes, I have a business account with a lot of users on teamviewer. We can connect when you have a chance next week. I am here most any day, any time. (US eastern)

I can email you an invitation. You helped me when we went to the dbesys, which was a change to our prior method a few years back.

Email me the connection info and the time to connect. Do you have Skype for the phone call? If not, give me a phone number.
