Bruce,

The answer to all your questions is in the past history of the company...

Accept what you have now, for it is certainly an excellent base from which to operate. You have so many tools there that you are probably not even getting close to maximizing the use of many of them (same here)

WHEN the next version is released, renew your subscription, and start testing it in house..

any other decision means you're looking at the wrong end of the horse/dog..

i.e. the tail is wagging the dog..

Bruce,
We are planning on releasing a new version of our app (compiled in 355 with express 254) after new years. That leads to a few questions and issues:
If you have a version nearing the end of testing and almost ready for release, go with it.

Waiting for Alaska, (or any tool vendor), with the idea of incorporating the vendor's new version is a sure way to cripple your products future. As Brian suggested, try out the new tools when they are released and use the new stuff for a future release. If you wait for 'that next new feature' your own progress will stagnate. The tools we now have will serve us well for now.

xBase++ 2.0 has been promised for so long, I truly hope it is released soon and lives up to the promised feature set. I am looking forward to testing the new features, but I will not count on, (or wait for), anything until I see it actually working in a final release.

Just my .02
Terry

hi,

Xbase++ 2.0 = SL1 1.9.355 + Hotfix + Arctica + VX30

so we get "just" Arctica as new "DBE" and have to learn how to use it.
as benefit of Arctica we will get some new data type like "Currency" or "Float" or "Timestamp"

read more about it in \DIR8\alaska\cxc\help\pg20.chm after you have install "CTP Preview"

!!! Note : Rename CXPCTP1.msi.ZIP to CXPCTP1.msi !!! it is NOT a ZIP File !

@Roger: If you don't attend the DevCon, it will be no DevCon at all. If you don't come, I'll stay at home aswell.
Well, that settles it then.
I would not want to be the one to spoil the party.
The eXpress train is coming - and it has more cars.
